Below Tünde and I have spoken many Hungarian words whereby we have purposely slowed down each word, syllable-by-syllable, so that you know how each syllable should be pronounced and how each word should be spoken as a whole; hopefully improving your learning and speaking of Hungarian.
Play each word twice or more, looking at its syllable notes at the same time, as the first attempt to play a word may be hindered by buffering; plus the fact you need to hear a syllable/word more than once anyway.
HÉTFŐ (MONDAY) - HATE-FUR
KEDD (TUESDAY) - KEHD
Put a slight linger on the DD, like a long D or small, infant school, da sound. Pronounce it as KED...tiny pause...Da (KEHD...Da).
SZERDA (WEDNESDAY) - SARE-DOH
The sze is pronounced as seh, but with the R (which is a long r, double r, ra sound) it becomes Sairr as in Sarah. So say it as Sairr-Doh.
CSÜTÖRTÖK (THURSDAY) - CHOO-TUR-TURK
The chew sound is more like a choo choo train sound, as in shooter or tutor. You can get away with Chew-Ter-Terk though.
PÉNTEK (FRIDAY) - PAIN-TEK
SZOMBAT (SATURDAY) - SOHM-BOHT
VASÁRNAP (SUNDAY) - VOH-SHAHR.R-NOP
NAP (DAY) - NOP
HÉT (WEEK) - HATE
HÓNAP (MONTH) - HOE-NOP
Long O - Sounds like Dough and Owe. Also, stress the H slightly.
ÉV (YEAR) - AYVE
Pronounce it as in: Behave or Behaviour (Behayve / Behayviour).
